What is Power Flushing?
Power flushing is a process whereby heating systems are forcibly
cleansed using water at high velocity, but low pressure,
so that no physical damage is caused to the system. The process
can be made even more effective with the addition of powerful
cleansing and mobilising agents.

Why have a Power Flush?
The objective is to restore systems with circulation and boiler noise
problems (caused by sludge and corrosion deposits) to optimum operation.
Power flushing removes these deposits and the problems that they
cause.
How does a Power Flush work?
The power flushing pump is simply connected into the heating
system, either across the standard circulator pump couplings, across
the tails of one radiator, or wherever most practicable.
Power flushing is a highly effective cleansing operation which works
by pumping water at a much higher velocity than usual through the heating
system, to loosen and mobilise harmfull corrosion deposits, and to suspend
them in rapidly moving water.
The process is made more effective by the addition of specialist
cleaning chemicals to the system up to a fortnight
before power flushing.
Once loosened, the unwanted debris are passed through a magnetic
filtration system, which picks up iron oxide (rust) and removes it
from the system. Other unwanted debris are purged from the system
with clean water.
At the end of the flushing process, the system contains fresh
clean water and corrosion inhibitors are added. Reinstatement of the
system to normal operation takes only a few minutes.
During the power flushing process, radiators are individually flushed,
without removing or diconnecting them from the system, by directing
the full output of the pump through each radiator separately.
Power flushing is not a high pressure operation and it is suitable
for most domestic wet central heating systems. It is carried out with
minimal disturbance and disruption to the normal operation of the
system.
Apex Plumbing & Heating are committed to delivering a quality service and excellent value for money. We will carry out the Power Flush properly and thoroughly. In our book, there is no such thing as a 'quick' Power Flush and we will only recommend a Power Flush if we believe your system needs it.
At Apex Plumbing & Heating, our Power Flushing will always be carried out properly and thoroughly.
What does this mean?
A Power Flush machine is an expensive
and specialised piece of equipment. It requires constant human intervention and you
cannot simply connect up the machine and return several hours
later, expecting the system to be fully cleansed! In this scenario, you may experience a temporary improvement but having a rinse is not the same as a good thorough clean! The underlying problems and symptoms will return in no time at all.
A Power Flush needs to be done properly!
Unfortunately, it's very difficult to assess how well a system has been cleansed. What if the original symptoms return after a few weeks or months? Are you confident that the job was carried out thoroughly in the first place? You probably wouldn't consider another Power Flush, so you start investigating other areas...sounds familiar?
Unfortunately, the nature of the Power Flushing process makes it extremely easy for the operator to cut corners!
Apex Plumbing & Heating is a quality company that only provides a quality service.
